Access to Public Information

The Denver Public Schools Board of Education supports the right of the public to obtain information about the programs and services of their schools and the district. It is the policy of the Board to make every reasonable effort to disseminate information regarding the operation of the various schools and departments, and the actions of the Board of Education.

Although most activity undertaken by the schools, the district and/or the Board of Education are matters of public record, certain matters are not subject to disclosure in that they are confidential, or disclosure would be contrary to the public interest as defined within applicable statutes or the release of that information is prohibited by law.

*In accordance with state statute 24-72-205(6)(b), the district has updated its research and retrieval fee to $41.37.

Colorado Open Records Act Requests

All public records requests under the Colorado Open Records Act must be submitted to the CORA Request Center.

Research Requests

Denver Public Schools fulfills an important and responsible role in public education in Colorado. The district, therefore, should lead the way in encouraging valid and meaningful research whenever possible. The first responsibility of the district is the education of children in Denver, and any cooperation with research must occur within the context of this primary obligation.

Student Records (FERPA) Requests

Denver Public Schools Student Records Office is responsible for the archiving of student permanent records of former DPS students. DPS is now offering a convenient and secure website for former students, corporations and legal facilities to request transcripts and student records online.
